Andrew Cittadine Chief Executive Officer

Andrew has a track record of founding and building medical technology companies that solve real world problems. These include two imaging companies: Sensant (Siemens), a 3D ultrasound business; and American BioOptics, an optical imaging startup acquired by a leading global endoscopy company. Andrew has overseen the successful execution of multiple regulatory clearances in Europe (CE) and the US (FDA), and the development of reimbursement strategies. Andrew is a co-founder and board member of MATTER, a Chicago co-working space and community of healthcare entrepreneurs. Andrew earned an MS and BS in Electrical Engineering and a BA in history from Stanford University, and an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

Kathryn Hyer Chief Business Officer

Kathryn was the founding investor in Diagnostic Photonics and has been active in the Company since its inception. She oversees various functional areas centered around commercialization. Kathryn’s background includes venture investing, C-level operations, finance, law, and health care. As a venture capitalist, Kathryn drove the development of several companies to product revenue and/or exit. Previously, Kathryn was the founder and head of a healthcare investment banking group at a national securities firm based in Chicago. While there, Kathryn led private placements, public offerings and M&A transactions for small to mid-cap healthcare companies. She earned a JD from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a BA from Aquinas College.

Adam M. Zysk, Ph.D. VP of Clinical Development VP Klinische Entwicklung

Adam manages the clinical team, where he is responsible for the conduct of our clinical trials and development of clinical evidence. Adam joined in 2012 from a faculty position at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Adam’s academic research in the fields of optical physics and medical imaging has been published in more than twenty peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He earned an MS and PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and a BS from Purdue University.

Stephen Boppart, M.D., Ph.D. Co­Founder and Chief Medical Officer Mitbegründer und Chief Medical Officer

Stephen oversees our medical direction and supports its study goals. His greatest interest is in developing novel biomedical imaging technologies for the improvement of human health. He is an Abel Bliss Professor of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with appointments in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bioengineering, and Medicine. As a faculty member at the University’s Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, he is Head of the Biophotonics Imaging Laboratory and Director of the Center for Optical Molecular Imaging. He earned a PhD from MIT and an MD from Harvard University.

Stephen betreut unsere medizinische Richtung und unterstützt die damit verbundenen Studienziele. P. Scott Carney Cofounder and Chief Scientific Officer Mitbegründer und Chief Scientific Officer

Effective July 1, 2017, Scott was appointed Director of the Optics Institute at the University of Rochester, the oldest school of optics in the nation.  While he is the author of seminal papers on the topic of nearfield inverse scattering, Scott is application-focused and has brought the tools of inverse scattering to bear on optical coherence tomography resulting in innovations for health care. Scott's background includes fifteen years on the faculty of the University of Illinois, where he served as a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Beckman Institute. Scott also serves as the Editor-in-Chief, Journal of the Optical Society of America A and is a former Fulbright scholar. He earned a PhD in physics from the University of Rochester and a BS in Engineering Physics from UIUC.

Kathy He Board Chair

Kathy He is a global life sciences executive with a track record of success in pharmaceutical and medical device industries, venture capital and private equity investments. She’s currently the Managing Partner of Hemingwei Partners LLC, a US-China cross-border venture capital firm and Venture Partner of Advantech Capital LP, a top tier Chinese private equity firm. Hemingwei invests in innovative technology companies that will have a singificant positive impact on healthcare clinically and economically.

Kathy received a B.S. degree from Wuhan University in China, an M.S. degree in Molecular Biology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.B.A. with distinction from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Nancy Sullivan Director

Nancy Sullivan serves as the CEO and Managing Director of IllinoisVENTURES, LLC. With over 15 years of experience in the commercialization and entrepreneurial sector, Nancy leads the IllinoisVENTURES, LLC investment portfolio. Ms. Sullivan oversees $70 million + in assets under management. She is responsible for overall fund operations including serving as the main point of contact for limited partner base and the investment management of leading portfolio companies.

Nancy earned her MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a Master's in Biotechnology, from Northwestern. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Loyola University

Tim Hoerr Director

Tim is the CEO and founder of Serra Ventures, LLC, a micro venture capital firm that provides coaching, management guidance and funding to seed and emerging stage companies in selected high technology sectors throughout the Midwest and selected other geographies. Serra has provided consulting to over 200 tech start-ups and has provided funding to over 60 of them. They presently manage $65 million in early stage company investments.

Tim was a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of iCyt, a bioscience instrument firm which was acquired by Sony Corporation in 2009. Tim has a B.S. in Accounting, B.S. in Business Admin., Illinois State University, summa cum laude, 1983, and he holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA, 1983) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA, 1984) designations.

Andrew Singer Director

Andrew Singer, the Fox Family Endowed Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Since 1998, he has been on the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he is currently a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department and the Coordinated Science Laboratory.  In 2000, he co-founded Intersymbol Communications, Inc., a venture-funded fabless semiconductor IC company, which was acquired by Finisar Corporation in 2007. In 2014, he co-founded OceanComm, Inc., a developer of ultra high bandwidth underwater wireless communications systems.   He received the S.B., S.M., and Ph.D. degrees, all in electrical engineering and computer science, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Andrew Bollhoefer Business Advisor

Andrew Bollhoefer is the Central Regional Sales Manager for Misonix, which specializes in the development and commercialization of ultrasonic surgical devices for neurosurgical, spinal, advanced wound care, and general surgery procedures.

Andrew has over 10 years of sales and sales leadership experience within the medical device sector, focused on the capital, disposable, and implant markets. He was a Business Development Manager for a venture capital backed spinal implant company, Paradigm Spine. Additionally, he held the roles of Global Field Sales Trainer and Principal Account Manager at Medtronic.

Andrew received a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
